We are pleased to announce THIS IS OUR MUSIC, Shimon Minamikawa's fourth solo exhibition with the gallery. Minamikawa's recent and forthcoming institutional exhibitions include Out of Doubt : Roppongi Crossing (2013/14), Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, Why not live for Art? II (2013), Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery and Real Japanesque (2012), The National Museum of Art, Osaka. From late Fall, Minamikawa will begin a one-year residency in New York; in 2012 he presented his debut solo exhibition in the city with the gallery 47 Canal.

THIS IS OUR MUSIC marks a shift in Minamikawa's practice towards indication - if not representation. Where in past paintings image served as erasure, in the present body of work Minamikawa allows for the introduction of an interrogative element. Embodying this shift, the exhibition title itself calls into question both media and maker. What is this? This is our music.
